As an African-American farmer, I am proud that Senator Lincoln is the first Arkansan ever to chair the Senate Agriculture Committee. Her strong advocacy for rural Arkansas and her understanding of the special challenges for African-American farmers makes her a leader we cannot do without.
During her time in the Senate, Senator Lincoln has worked tirelessly to champion ideas and tackle problems that impact our community.
She has been a fierce advocate for the improvement and expansion of health care for children and families, the preservation of Social Security and Medicare for our seniors, and the creation of economic opportunities for all of our citizens and small business owners.
Recently, Senator Lincoln earned an "A" rating from the NAACP for her votes cast on civil rights issues in 2009. Senator Lincoln voted to stabilize our economy, increase funding for after-school programs, extend unemployment benefits, expand health coverage for low-income and expectant mothers through ARKIDs First, stop predatory lending practices by credit card companies and she is still fighting for common-sense health care reform.
This is not the first time. In fact, year after year, Senator Lincoln consistently earns high ratings from the NAACP because of her commitment to fairness and justice for all Americans.
Let's stand together to make sure Senator Lincoln has a strong support system for the fight ahead.
Sincerely
Abraham Carpenter, Jr.
